Originally discovered by label A+R and world renowned producer Miguel Migs, Patrick broke through into the industry with his work on the San Francisco deep house label Transport Recordings. These tracks immediately caught the attention of an extremely diverse group of DJs; from Garth to Pete ‘The Shaker’ Bones. The sultry atmospherics, sexy bass lines and thick ethnic percussion would become the foundation of a sound that Patrick is now known for across the world.

After a number of follow up releases on highly esteemed labels like Peace Division’s Low Pressings imprint and the west coast label Silver Pearl, hordes of requests for new material poured in. In his first UK release Patrick would go on to make huge waves in the international dance music community. Receiving white label playtime on radio shows like Danny Rampling’s Hot Mix and Colin Dale’s Abstrakt Dance caused quite a bit of a buzz around this unique release, which found its way into just about everyone’s record bag — Danny Tenaglia, Silicone Soul, Halo Varga, Laurent Garnier and Mazi — the list goes on. Just about everyone was giving respect to the young statesmen for his double disc Low Pressings affair.

With no signs of slowing down in 2002, Patrick continued the onslaught of new material, which was unleashed on a number of different labels including Mr. C’s End Recordings, Halo Varga’s Bluem imprint and the Tango offshoot “Nightshift.” He had quickly become a favorite with some of the most respected DJ’s in the world.

The name of the game with Patrick Turner is diversity — diversity in his production and diversity in the DJs who play his records. It isn’t often that you find producers who have been able to win over the hearts of DJs from deep house, progressive and techno genres simultaneously, yet this is exactly what the 22-year-old Baltimore native has been doing. This is obvious with his tracks being licensed to a number of world famous mix CDs such as Lee Burridge & Craig Richards’ Tyrant 2 and Doc Martin’s Fabric CD.

As a result of his extensive success in the studio, Patrick has since made live DJ appearances all over the world. His sound has graced cities such as Las Vegas, Toronto, San Francisco, Tampa, Madrid, Gran Canaria, Barcelona and much more. However, Patrick is no stranger to being behind the decks. Since the age of 16 he has been playing house music at Baltimore/DC area club nights and raves. Armed with precise mixing, incredible flow and a deep vision for the crowd, when he’s behind the turntables Patrick comes prepared to rock your body and move your mind. Be sure to catch him now before that rate gets any higher.

January of 2003 saw the launch of Patrick’s label Movim Recordings with partner Ben Camp. The duo has since signed a number of artists including Souldoubt (Freaked), Jay Tripwire (Deepen/Tango), Community Recordings (Imperial Dub, Grayhound) and Scott Findley (Nordic Trax). The concept of the label is focused around a very percussive, densely moody brand of deep tech house. The response from early releases has been fantastic and the label is selling numbers matched by only a few of the more established domestic labels.

Coaxing the maximum soul out of the machine

In the realm of dance music, there are few producers that thrive on blurring the boundary between eclectic experimenter and populist ass-shaker as much as Q-Burns Abstract Message. Equally comfortable covering Krautrock legends Faust or dropping his favorite chunky house grooves into the mix, Q-BAM—known to his parents as Michael Donaldson—is indeed the rare auteur. Whether globetrotting as a DJ, co-running the Eighth Dimension Records label, remixing artists like Rabbit in the Moon, Fila Brazillia and Mazi & Collete, or recording his own original productions, Donaldson is all about the coaxing the maximum soul out of the machine.

Based in Orlando since the early-’90s, the former record shop owner and college radio DJ has spent the past two decades developing a sound that is obsessively devoted to the funk. His animated, vodka-soaked DJ sets have won audiences for the well-traveled Donaldson from San Francisco to (literally) Siberia, and landed him primo opening slots for GusGus, Chemical Brothers and Meat Beat Manifesto.

However, it’s his playful rhythms, surprising melodic themes and not-so-surprising Eno-esque textures that demand attention. An accomplished indie musician prior to releasing his first single as Q-BAM—the breakbeat noir of “141 Revenge Street” in 1995—Donaldson is first and foremost a songwriter, albeit one that is just as enamored with the sheer power of the groove.

With a trusty Roland Juno 106 synth at his side, Q-BAM released three full-length albums via the respected electronic label Astralwerks, including Invisible Airline which featured several collaborations with vocalist Lisa Shaw. He has recorded numerous singles for house-centric imprints such as Brique Rouge, Slip N’ Slide, NRK and of course, Eighth Dimension. Q-BAM was also one of the talented producers on alt-country icon Jim White’s 2001 Luaka Bop release No Such Place. The album cast White’s stark vocals in a wasteland of dusty beats and ghostly slide guitars, with Donaldson’s tracks providing some of its most intoxicating moments.

Though his “endless summer” schedule—more than 100 DJ dates annually—and ongoing production projects would seemingly exhaust a mere mortal, Q-BAM rather enjoys this 120-BPM soundtrack. Accordingly, Donaldson and fellow Orlando producer/DJ Atnarko recently launched the deep house label EIGHT-TRACKS, dedicated to releasing “strange sounds that you can dance to,” says Q-BAM himself. Additionally, house imprint Agave Records has tapped Donaldson to throw down a mix CD titled Agave Nectar Vol. 1, now available in fine records shops worldwide..

Currently, Q-BAM is hard at work with his monthly Invisible Airwaves radio show, studio and label duties, and touring schedule. The latest Q-Burns Abstract Message singles include the Italian-horror film inspired “Chainsaw” for EIGHT-TRACKS and a collection of remixes by Cole Medina of the classic Invisible Airlines track “Innocent” (featuring the vocals of Lisa Shaw). As if there wasn’t already enough deliciously warm and gooey queso already piled high on his plate, Q-BAM is also hard at work recording a slew of tracks for an upcoming mystery project, to be launched in 2011.

The exciting new Croatian labelHome Made Electronica enters the new year with a fresh and delicious compilation, mixed by one of London’s truest and finest housemeisters, Asad Rizvi. The concept behind the project “Are You Home Made?” that also features Asad’s Deep and Spacey Remix of Future Control from SOWAT Music, is to showcase modern international and Croatian music side.

The choice of Asad Rizvi, as auteur of the compilation was certainly no coincidence. Croatia has always been a special place in his long and prolific DJ career, being one of the countries he has played the most and gained the most fans. For this reason, Asad Rizvi has never been shy to commend Croatia as one of the finest places in the world to DJ and party.

Asad’s selection in this Home Made project includes tracks and remixes by house legends as illustrious and diverse as Steve Bug, Kruse & Nürnberg, Chez Damier, Chris Carrier & Jef K, Giom, Audio Soul Project as well as Matthew Style-Harris, Scope, Ron Basejam (Crazy P), Tom Gillieron and the gifted Croatian tandem Homeboy & Monotek, Home Made Electronica’s champions.

“3rd Head” – the track from two of Croatia’s finest, Home Boy (Speak Rec, Hyper Colour) and Monotek was released as pre-release promo EP and built up great buzz and won wide support from top class DJs around the globe, including Laurent Garnier, Joshua Iz, Deepchild, Nick Holder, Abyss from Buzzin fly, tech house legend Jay Tripwire, andHarri from Sub club in Glasgow.

The album reflects the emotive yet diverse journey of Rizvi’s DJ sets, weaving together a sublime selection of his unmistakeable slant of deep electronic house music. Having DJ’ed in hundreds of destinations fromMexico to Malaysia, USA to UAE and Panama to Pakisan, with this exciting new compilation on Croatia’s hottest label and numerous forthcoming releases, expect no small feats from him in 2011, nor from the talented artists and minds behind Home Made.

One sunny afternoon in the mid 80s, the attention of a bespectacled 8-year-old was caught by a demonstration of synthesisers, drum machines and samplers on childrens’ television. Immediately captivated, the young man was never to lose interest thereafter. Fast forward a decade and after studying several grades of music, Asad Rizvi had already cut his first record, hosted a radio show, started a label, and was offered his first DJ booking at a major London club. Since his first release in 1995 at the age of 18, it was clear from the wide support it received that a long road lay ahead for him in music.

Frequently misspelled, Asad Rizvi is a name that House music lovers associate with consistency, refinement and diversity. With over 100,000 units sold of his work, Asad’s sprawling discography covers a multitude of dance music’s most illustrious labels including Om, Global Underground, King Street, The End, Wall of Sound, Loveslap!, Tango, Urbantorque, Loaded, Visitor, as well as his own imprints Wrong and Reverberations. Having been dubbed a “new school hero” by Muzik magazine, “Producer for 2000” by Mixmag, and a “DJ for 2000” in The Face, “Best Compilation of 2003” in M8, his distinctive sound has continually been winning appraisal from the industry’s leading music publications and Dj’s alike. Over the years his work has won the avid support of jocks as diverse as: Danny Tenaglia, Laurent Garnier, Mark Farina, Terry Francis, Mr. C, DJ Heather, Tom Middleton, Doc Martin, Adam Freeland, Gilles Peterson, Inland Knights, Fred Everything, Danny Howells, Desyn Massiello and seemingly countless others.

Asad is not up there in the top 20 lists of the worlds’ biggest DJs. He has nonetheless remained one of the busiest and most well-travelled London house jocks for many years. His infectious yet eclectic slant on House music has regularly proven to satisfy the most purist underground dance-floors to the most up-for-it big room crowds. Having graced the decks at hundreds of venues across five continents, he has made appearances at some of the world’s most well respected venues including Fabric (London), Pacha (Buenos Aires), Stereo (Montreal), Folies Pigales (Paris), Roxy & Mecca (Prague), Crystal (Istanbul), The End (London), and playing to crowds of up to 20,000 people.

Having had an action-packed Summer touring far and wide from Mexico to Georgia with a string of sublime releases that have seen him moving back into more electronic house territories, Asad has been working overtime on new originals and remixes, a compilation, as well as travel plans to rock yet more dance-floors across the globe. An ever- ubiquitous presence in House music is here to stay and will indeed be a name you’ll be hearing yet more of in 2011.

His collaborations with British house-legend Huggy as “Formidable Force” for the 2020 Vision label has indeed landed in the record crates of the world’s top house DJs who prize their quirky, yet floor-movin’ vibes.Atnarko has appeared on Ministry Of Sound,OM,Fabric,Street Beat,Fat City,Network Astralwerks, and more He’s also an in-demand remixer and well travelled club DJ who wants nothing more than to drop a groove down your spine (and inspire a smile on your face).

Atnarko also co-owns Eight-Tracks along with Q-Burns abstract Message. Eight-Tracks is a vinyl based label dedicated to releasing conceptual house music with a
post-modernist—read: subversive—slant.

This established dj and producer has been touring the globe and playing the most important clubs and festivals for the last few years with no sign of stopping.

With releases on the most notorious labels, like Inland Knight’s Drop Music, Lowdown, Agave, Blockhead, Conya, Look At You, So Sound and many more, he has gained support from an incredible variety of mainstream djs, from Hernan Cattaneo, Satoshi Tomiie, Dimitri from Paris, Laurent Garnier or Mark Farina, to Dj Heather, Luke Fair, Lawnchair Generals, Fred Everything, Hipp-e or The Inland Knights…They have all used Jay’s flavor to rock their dancefloors. It could be said that almost every underground house mix around contains one of his works!

His dj sets, always fun, original and full of funk, have made thousands of people dance in some of the most important venues in the globe. He has been part of Miami’s Winter Music Conference in the last 6 editions, Creamfields Buenos Aires (One of the biggest festivals in the world, gathering 60.000 people), Southamerican Music Conference (where he worked as a panelist directing production workshops and seminars), Personal Fest or Marlboro Mxtronica.

Through the last couple years he got to share stages with acts as big as Deep Dish, Massive Attack, Roger Sanchez, Dave Seaman, Erick Morillo, Pet Shop Boys, Gorillaz, Dj Dan, Green Velvet, Pete Tong or Mark Farina amongst many others.

In his constant touring schedule he has played clubs as big as Pacha Buenos Aires, Crystal in Istanbul, Opium Garden in Miami, Gravity in Lithuania, Lotus Sound Bar in Hawaii, Café D’anvers in Belgium, La Fabrique in Tokyo or Sutra in Johannesburg.

New York, London, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Boston, Glasgow, Istanbul, Budapest, Sydney, Melbourne, Beijing, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago, San Diego, Buenos Aires, Denver, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Mexico, Bogota, Lima, Rio de Janeiro, Tbilisi, Brussels, Oslo are some cities in his neverending list of past presentations in more than 35 countries, always bringing his particular flavor to the party.

Born in Rosario, Argentina; ever since his childhood he developed a huge passion for the art of sounds, and later, in his teenage years, he formed and leaded several rock bands as a composer, singer, guitar, key player and front man. His love for the creation of rhythm and melodies grew in time, and he began learning and falling in love with funk and disco from the past era. Obsessive collector of Lp´s and always open to new sources of inspiration he discovered House Music and immediately started making beats.

The memories of poolside afterhours in his hometown with hundreds of people dancing to the beats of funk until the sun came out won´t ever leave his mind.

His tracks have been featured in various famous compilations such as Mark Farina’s Live In Tokyo OM, BBC essential mix, Johnny Fiasco’s Winter sessions, Roger Sanchez’s Release Yourself radio show or Journey by Dj’s. He has remixed Inland Knights, Jacob London, Magik Johnson, Pound Boys, The Rurals, Troydon, Can Costa amongst a lot of others and been remixed by huge talents like Greenskeepers, Johnny Fiasco, Schmoov, Harold Heath, Hipp-e, Random Soul, Toka Project, Patrick Turner or Morgan Page.

During the last few years and looking to expand and contribute to the house music world, Jay started Flavor Recordings joining UK’s talented Matt Shrewd. Flavor has grown to be synonymous of funky underground house and has featured some of the most important artists of the scene today like Kinky Movement, The Littlemen, Inland Knights or Da Sunlounge.

He also started his own solo imprint in 2008, Candy Music which features disco-infused, deep, tech and always groovy beats oriented to move dancefloors all over the globe. Candy’s roster also includes great talent like Tovar, Da Sunlounge, Jesus Gonsev, Neighbour, Random Soul, Kirby, Deep Mariano, Christian Malloni or Manuel Sahagun begin_of_the_skype_highlighting end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

Jay West is only one of the names this Argentinian born self-tought musician uses, in 2007 one of his collaboration projects (with long time friend and fellow Argentinian Christian Malloni) exploded and gained world respect after a strike of releases in labels like Agave, Alphabet, Shrewd Music, Pilot, Peng and Flavor. The Candy Dealers quickly became a household name in the underground house scene. He has also done work under monikers like Pushing Boundaries (with Matt Shrewd), Western Union, Shanty Town or The Golosines….

Always defying himself to improve and with a heavy schedule of gigs and releases, every year is a new challenge for Jay, with lots of new projects and trying to break more boundaries. You better be there to enjoy it!!
